Integrative Counselling
There are various types of counsellors who work to various different models and theories. It is my belief that as we are all individuals, no one theory or model is likely to fit all. It is for this reason that I have opted to practice as an Integrative Counsellor. This means that I use a variety of theories and models to guide my approach adapting what is needed depending on the needs, issues and personality presented by the client. What is Hypnotherapy?
The hypnotic state is a perfectly normal level of consciousness that we all slide through on our way to sleep and
wakefulness. It is when our brains are operating in the alpha/theta range, are relaxed and are not processing at the complex level usually experienced in the living of our day to day lives.
Hypnotherapy is the process of using this hypnotic state for healing in two ways:-
- using positive suggestion can change behaviour and thought processes in a positive way e.g. quit smoking and improving self esteem.
- using regression to discover events and circumstances from the past that have created some sort of block to what is wanted and required in the present e.g. tackling fears an phobias. Regression can also be used as a spring board to deal with issues within counselling therapy and can often be helpful when a client feels stuck and doesn't know why they feel, think or do the things that they want to change.
